What does a Construction Associate Do?
Conduct Legal Research
The Construction Associate researches statutes, regulations, case law, contracts, and other legal authorities to support construction matters and legal strategies.
Review Construction Contracts
Reviews construction agreements and related documents to identify contractual obligations, risks, and potential areas of dispute.
Prepare Legal Documents
Drafts legal memoranda, correspondence, pleadings, motions, discovery materials, contract provisions, and other documents under the direction of senior attorneys.
Support Construction Disputes
Furthermore, assists with claims, discovery, depositions, negotiations, mediation, arbitration, and litigation involving construction projects.
Support Clients & Senior Attorneys
Works with partners, senior attorneys, clients, contractors, engineers, architects, consultants, and other stakeholders to advance construction-related legal matters.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct legal research and analysis involving construction law, contracts, claims, disputes, and applicable regulations.
- Draft and review legal memoranda, pleadings, motions, correspondence, contracts, discovery requests, and other legal documents.
- Review construction contracts, project records, change orders, payment documentation, schedules, and other materials relevant to legal matters.
- Assist with discovery, depositions, negotiations, mediation, arbitration, hearings, and trial preparation as required.
- Collaborate with partners, senior attorneys, clients, contractors, engineers, architects, consultants, and other professionals while managing assigned matters and deadlines.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Experience
0-7+ years of experience in construction law, commercial litigation, contract law, real estate law, or a related practice area, depending on the position.
Education
Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
Certifications
Active admission to the applicable state bar, or eligibility for admission where permitted by the position.
