What does a Estate Planning Associate Do?
Draft Estate Planning Documents
An Estate Planning Associate prepares and reviews wills, trusts, powers of attorney, healthcare directives, and other estate-planning documents.
Research Estate Planning Issues
Conducts legal research on estate planning, trusts, wealth transfer, tax considerations, and applicable state laws to support client matters.
Support Wealth Transfer Planning
Assists senior attorneys with strategies involving asset transfers, beneficiary arrangements, business interests, and long-term estate objectives.
Review Existing Estate Plans
Analyzes existing estate documents and identifies areas that may require revisions following changes in family, financial, or business circumstances.
Assist With Client Matters
Works with partners, clients, financial advisors, accountants, and other professionals to coordinate estate-planning projects and provide effective legal support.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Draft and review wills, trusts, powers of attorney, beneficiary provisions, and other estate-planning documents.
- Conduct legal research and analysis relating to estate planning, trusts, wealth transfer, and applicable legal requirements.
- Assist senior attorneys with estate-planning strategies, business succession matters, and client-specific planning objectives.
- Review existing estate plans and recommend revisions based on changes in client circumstances, assets, or family structures.
- Coordinate with attorneys, clients, accountants, financial advisors, and other professionals on estate-planning matters.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Experience
2-10+ years of experience in estate planning, trusts and estates, wealth transfer, estate administration, or a related legal practice.
Education
Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
Certifications
Active admission to the applicable state bar and eligibility to practice as required.
