What does a MEP Project Manager Do?
Manage MEP Project Delivery
Leads the planning and execution of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing scopes from preconstruction through project completion.
Coordinate MEP Systems
Coordinates mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems with architectural, structural, and other building components to minimize conflicts and rework.
Manage MEP Subcontractors
Oversees specialty subcontractors and vendors, monitoring scope, schedule, cost, quality, procurement, and field performance.
Control Schedule & Cost
Tracks MEP budgets, commitments, procurement activities, milestones, installation progress, and schedule risks.
Lead Commissioning & Closeout
Coordinates testing, commissioning, punch-list activities, as-built documentation, O&M manuals, and final MEP system turnover.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage mechanical, electrical, and plumbing scopes from preconstruction through commissioning and closeout.
- Coordinate MEP design, drawings, specifications, BIM coordination, RFIs, submittals, and technical issues.
- Manage MEP subcontractors, vendors, procurement activities, installation progress, and field coordination.
- Monitor MEP costs, schedules, changes, project risks, quality requirements, and construction milestones.
- Coordinate testing, commissioning, inspections, punch-list completion, documentation, and final system turnover.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Experience
7-15+ years of MEP construction, mechanical/electrical/plumbing project management, or related building systems experience.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent MEP construction experience may qualify.
Certifications
PMP, LEED, CCM, PE, or other relevant construction, engineering, and project management credentials can be beneficial.
