What does a MEP Superintendent Do?
Lead MEP Field Operations
Directs daily mechanical, electrical, and plumbing construction activities and coordinates field execution across multiple specialty trades.
Coordinate MEP Trades
Coordinates subcontractors, foremen, crews, and installation activities to maintain efficient sequencing and minimize trade conflicts.
Manage Installation Sequencing
Plans and coordinates installation sequences, manpower, materials, equipment, access, and work areas to support project schedules.
Monitor Safety & Quality
Ensures MEP work follows project safety procedures, approved plans, specifications, quality requirements, and applicable standards.
Resolve Field Conflicts
Identifies coordination problems and field constraints and works with project teams and trade partners to develop practical solutions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee daily mechanical, electrical, and plumbing field operations.
- Coordinate MEP subcontractors, foremen, crews, equipment, materials, and installation activities.
- Manage MEP sequencing and coordinate work with structural, architectural, and other construction activities.
- Monitor installation quality, productivity, safety, manpower, schedule progress, and field conditions.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, BIM teams, subcontractors, and vendors to resolve MEP field issues.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Experience
8-15+ years of MEP construction, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or related field supervision experience.
Education
Construction Management, Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related education preferred; extensive hands-on MEP construction experience may qualify.
Certifications
OSHA 30, LEED, trade-specific certifications, or other relevant construction safety and technical credentials can be beneficial.
