What does a Plant Manager Do?
Lead Plant Operations
The Plant Manager oversees daily manufacturing operations and ensures production activities align with facility objectives, quality requirements, and operational priorities.
Manage Production Performance
Monitors production output, capacity, staffing, schedules, and operational performance to maintain efficient and reliable manufacturing operations.
Maintain Food Safety & Quality

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead overall food and beverage manufacturing plant operations, including production, workforce performance, quality, safety, engineering, and maintenance.
- Establish and monitor plant performance objectives related to productivity, quality, safety, cost, capacity, and delivery.
- Ensure manufacturing activities comply with applicable food safety requirements, sanitation standards, company procedures, and regulatory expectations.
- Collaborate with quality, engineering, maintenance, supply chain, finance, and executive leadership to resolve operational challenges and maintain production continuity.
- Lead continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives designed to improve efficiency, reliability, quality, workforce performance, and overall plant results.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Experience
10-15+ years of experience in food and beverage manufacturing, plant operations, manufacturing management, production leadership, or a related discipline, preferably within a regulated production environment.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Food Science, Operations Management, Manufacturing, Business Administration, or a related discipline preferred.
Certifications
HACCP, Lean Six Sigma, SQF, BRCGS, or other relevant food safety, manufacturing, and leadership certifications can be beneficial depending on employer requirements.
