About the Litigation Partner Role

In commercial litigation, partners may represent businesses and organizations in contract disputes, corporate conflicts, financial claims, business torts, and other complex matters. The role typically involves developing case strategy, overseeing discovery, directing motion practice, leading negotiations, managing trial preparation, and representing clients in arbitration or court proceedings. For example, a Litigation Partner may advise an executive team about litigation risk, lead settlement negotiations, supervise a team of associates, or take primary responsibility for a high-value commercial dispute. Furthermore, Litigation Partners often play an important role in developing client relationships and generating new business. They may mentor attorneys, manage legal teams, coordinate with experts, and collaborate with other practice groups.
