What does a Assistant Superintendent Do?
Coordinate Daily Job-Site Activities
Supports daily construction operations by coordinating crews, subcontractors, materials, deliveries, inspections, and scheduled work activities.
Monitor Construction Progress
Tracks field progress against project schedules and communicates potential delays, conflicts, or resource requirements to the Superintendent and project team.
Coordinate Subcontractors & Trades
Helps manage trade partners and construction sequencing to ensure subcontractors complete work in the correct order and according to project requirements.
Support Quality & Safety
Monitors job-site conditions, workmanship, safety practices, and completed work while helping identify and resolve deficiencies.
Support Inspections & Closeout
Coordinates inspections, punch-list activities, documentation, and completion tasks to support successful project turnover.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the Superintendent with daily residential construction site management and field operations.
- Coordinate subcontractors, trade partners, deliveries, inspections, and construction activities according to project schedules.
- Monitor job-site progress, construction sequencing, workmanship, safety conditions, and project requirements.
- Identify field issues, trade conflicts, schedule risks, and quality deficiencies and communicate them to the appropriate project leaders.
- Assist with punch-list completion, inspections, documentation, project closeout, and transition of completed work.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Experience
3-10+ years of residential construction, field supervision, assistant superintendent, or related construction experience, with hands-on exposure to active job-site operations.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Building Science, Engineering, or a related field preferred. Equivalent residential construction experience may qualify.
Certifications
OSHA training and other relevant construction safety, quality, or project management credentials can be beneficial depending on project requirements.
